Using Microsoft FrontPage to transfer files to your site
Once you have created your documents using FrontPage you are
going to need to move them from your local computer onto your
virtual server.
FrontPage Hosting Overview
If you opt to use FrontPage on your domain, access to your domain
space is only supported using FrontPage. You may not add or delete
files in this directory using telnet or standard FTP.
Since FrontPage uses its own cgi-bin directory, any custom CGI
scripts or programs must be copied into a separate
cgi-bin directory using standard FTP. All references to CGI
scripts should be fully qualified, and made as follows: http://www.yourcompany.com/yourcompanycgi/your_script_name.
The cgi-bin subdirectory is aliased for URL reference purposes. For
example, if your domain name is greatstuff.com, you would make all
references to scripts in your web pages and other scripts as
greatstuffcgi/your_script_name. Replace yourcompany.com with
your domain name or IP address and your_script_name
with your actual CGI script or program name.
You will need the following information to log your FTP software
into your new site: User ID, Password.
ATR/IHPS can provide this information to you by e-mail when we set
up your new site. If you misplace or lose the information, please
e-mail
requesting the information again.
Copying your FrontPage Web to your Virtual Domain
Once you have created your site using
FrontPage, connect to the Internet.
Start FrontPage Explorer.
Once in FrontPage Explorer open your newly
created web site on your local computer.
From the File Menu choose Publish
FrontPage Web and enter the URL for your new
site (for example, www.yourcompany.com)
for the Destination Web Server.
Enter your User ID and Password, then choose
"OK" to start copying your local web to your virtual
server. This may take a little time depending on your
connection speed to the Internet and the quantity and size of
your files.
Please use your FrontPage manual for additional
information.
